After selling their own ventures, they decided to dedicate their expertise to helping other entrepreneurs avoid common pitfalls and accelerate their path to success.
What started as informal mentoring sessions in a small Canberra office quickly grew into a structured Business Coaching practice. Word spread through referrals — clients told their friends, accountants recommended us to their clients, and before long we were working with business owners across the Australian Capital Territory and beyond.
Over the past twelve years, we have refined our methodology through hundreds of engagements. We have seen what works and what does not in the real world of Australian small and medium enterprises. Today, Navigate Biz Lead operates from our purpose-built coaching studio on Hugo Boulevard in Brownboro, and we serve clients nationally via our online platform. Helen built and sold two retail businesses before founding Navigate Biz Lead. She holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the Australian National University and is a certified professional coach with the International Coaching Federation. Her specialities include strategic planning, leadership development and business exit planning.
David spent fifteen years in corporate finance before transitioning to coaching. He brings deep expertise in financial modelling, cash flow management and pricing strategy. David is known for his calm, analytical approach and his ability to translate complex numbers into clear action plans that business owners can implement immediately.
Mei-Lin is a registered psychologist who specialises in mindset, resilience and peak performance for business leaders. She combines cognitive-behavioural techniques with practical business strategy to help clients overcome self-doubt, manage stress and sustain the energy needed to lead effectively over the long term.
Key milestones in the Navigate Biz Lead story
Helen Cartwright launched Navigate Biz Lead from a shared office space, offering one-on-one Business Coaching to local entrepreneurs. The first year saw twelve clients complete the program, with all reporting measurable improvements in revenue or operational efficiency.
David Okonkwo joined as senior coach, bringing financial expertise and enabling us to offer a broader range of services. We also introduced our signature twelve-week intensive program, which remains one of our most popular offerings.
Recognising that geography should not be a barrier to great coaching, we built our online platform and began serving clients across Australia. Within a year, remote sessions accounted for forty per cent of our engagements.
We relocated to our current purpose-built coaching studio in Brownboro, featuring dedicated meeting rooms, a resource library and a comfortable lounge area where clients can work between sessions.
Adding a registered psychologist to the team allowed us to integrate mindset and resilience coaching into every program. This holistic approach has become a defining feature of the Navigate Biz Lead experience.
